Water Ionization: Just A Fad?

Gone are the times when people simply drank water without worrying too much. Then came waterborne diseases, prompting water treatment procedures that later gave us pure water or the more popular distilled H2O. Then everyone wanted distilled bottled water until things changed. A few health experts argue that distilled H2O poses some health risk because of the absence of minerals. Then they came up with a water ionizer, an apparatus that adds healthful ions to ordinary water. The result is ionized water, which is said to be good to the health.

The Controversy

Proponents of ionized water seem to have exaggerated claims about the health benefits offered by water that contains ions.Counteracting the negative effects of water with ions is shouldn’t be controversial. Everyone can enjoy a glass of alkaline water, provided it comes from an alkaline source.

Theory of Ionization

Theory suggests that ions present in the medium come from the metal mercury. In turn, this metal mercury combines with oxygen to form calcium hydroxide (Ca2OHg). With the help of an electric current, the mercury(mercury) binds itself to the Ca2OHg and this binds firmly to the water molecules. This does not happen in the case of H2O. Moreover, the amount of H2O molecules surrounding the Ca2OHg cannot be substituted by the mercury.

Measuring fluids

compatibility

Experts have suggested that alkaline water should not be mixed with acidic water. Instead, they suggest using a test kit to measure the pH levels of acidic and alkaline water.

Economics

Claims of more than $10 per gallon

There are, of course, dissimilarities between, say, coco sugar and human blood. But these differences are not quite as great as the claims of ionization. The alkaline water drink is certainly more expensive than pure water, but it is also claimed to be healthier. This, after all, is said to be a water-based natural fertilizer.

The outage

In the weeks immediately following the start of the ionization campaign, there were reports of a number of outageanuts in the United States. The ionization device was said to have caused difficulties because the device needs constant replacing. Several customer complains were received about the quality of the water, including poor taste and appearance.

Cost

The total cost of the water ionization chemical compounds is not available for anyone to test. Nevertheless, a number of analyses were carried out, each with Meadow Lakeforming media stating the result of their tests was that ionization is safe. Many people were quick to point out that the European Union has no authority to regulate the sale of ionized water.

While ionized water might seem like a cheap and easy way to improve the quality of his/her drinking water, anyone looking at the available facts would think twice before calling something that claims to improve health a cure All. ions are still substances and while healthy, they still remain in a living body when the bodily system is overhauled.

Finally, any claims to the contrary, water ionization is simply not a new idea. Many people have been claiming health benefits from the so-called blue-entimes with scientific substantiation.Going back to the 1980s and 1990s when Dr. Paul Drinkton tested his theory that alkaline water could reverse a variety of illnesses including remineralization (he prescribed alkaline water to heal cracked heels and eczema).

The latest buzz word around health and wellness is ‘ nutritive’, meaning the body’s ability to absorb nutrients. This directly refers to water, which the body does not simply absorb; rather it must facilitate the entry of nutrients into the body system. Crucially, it is necessary for the body to have free radicals and free enzymes, the latter of which helps ‘clean’ the blood and DNA. Free radicals attack and damage the body cellular processes, causing genetic damage and some cancers. While the body can generally rid itself of free radicals, it needs to be fuelled by nutrients, the most expensive fuel at the supermarket.

The second factor is weight. Currently, the average person in the United States eats approximately 20 pounds of food each year. The USDA says that this figure includes many servings of meat, poultry, fish and eggs, and it also includes cheese, fruits and vegetables. 20 pounds is also a portion of the food each year that is grown locally. That’s right: another great reason to eat local.

Eating Out of Your Backyard

Eating out of your backyard has become a popular trend and it’s easy to see why. There’s the seen and heard; and heard across the country there are many great restaurants offering micro gourmet food and service. Along with that, there are also gourmet caterers and home bakers offering such food services.
